Uncertainty Methods

  • Land cover maps: overall accuracy and kappa from field and Google Earth reference points (GFOI Methods and Guidance).
  • Change maps (activity data): error-adjusted area estimator of Olofsson et al. (2013).
  • Emission factors: bootstrap simulation of the plot data (IPCC 2006, Vol. 1 Ch. 3), suitable when the distribution of the mean is not symmetric.
  • FRL: error propagation combining the uncertainties of activity data and emission factors.
