Tree Measurements

Trees are measured in nested circles around the plot centre, so that small trees are counted in small circles and large trees in the full plot:

  • DBH ≥ 2 cm within 2 m
  • DBH ≥ 5 cm within 5 m
  • DBH ≥ 10 cm within 10 m
  • DBH ≥ 20 cm within 20 m (Dryland forests) or within 15 m (other strata)
  • Regeneration (height ≥ 10 cm, DBH ≤ 2 cm) in two 1.5 m subplots 10 m from the centre

For each tree: species, direction and distance from the centre, DBH, quality, health, origin (natural or planted), bole height, total height, and stump diameter and height.
